Dear Madagascar Travelers,
As people who not only dream about far away places, but venture to distance lands for experiences that can’t be found near home, we all understand that the world is a dynamic, ever-changing place. You are also probably aware of the events that took place in Madagascar earlier this year. After a clash between the island nation’s government and military, Madagascar's president ceded power to the country's opposition leader. The capital city of Antananarivo experienced public protests, looting and rioting during the time prior to the president’s resignation.
Another Land was in close contact with our ground personnel in Madagascar from the first signs of unrest. The situation calmed quickly and the US State Department has no current Travel Warnings for Madagascar. At no time were tourists affected by the political struggle. Visitors to the island were able to explore the island safely and depart from the capital city without incident.
The safety of our travelers and employees is our foremost priority and we will continue to monitor the situation in Madagascar through our resident contacts, east African news sources, the U.S. State Department and Madagascar’s National Tourism Board.
If you have questions regarding the situation in Madagascar, please feel free to contact us at 888-334-7559 or send an email.
Most Sincerely,
Nichole Smaglick, Founder and CEO
and
Marguerite von Duerckheim, Division Manager
